My DD is a biter! Yikes! WWYD?

DD is 9 months old and she is a biter. She will cuddle and put her head down on your shoulder and ...BITE! and HANG ON!! I literally have pried her teeth apart to get her off of my shoulder, arm, leg, etc.

Evidently I was a biter too and my grandmother (who raised me) just bit me back. Obviously I am not going to do this. It didn't work anyway, I was a biter until I was five.

What do I do to stop this? Currently I put her down if I am holding her and move away if I am sitting on the floor.

Sometimes I say 'no bite.' I try not to react at all but sheesh, it hurts some times!

Sorry this is long but any suggestions would be most welcome!!Yes, she has plenty of teething toys!

My 9mth old did that about 3 times... so I dont know if he is a BITER.. ya know.. so what I did may not help you ..
BUT when he bit.. I got a deep tone of voice and told him simply :STOP BITING while looking at him in his eyes ) and removed him from me.. I would put him down.. he would cry and I would say .. " no biting mama.. that hurt mama..: after about 3 times... ( not in a row ) he has stopped..

i agree, immediate firm "NO" and put child down away from you. just a few second "timeout" then cuddles so she knows you still love her

Re: My DD is a biter! Yikes! WWYD?

Evan all of a sudden starting biting us really REALLY hard around 8 months or so, and we just let him bite, then wouldn't ya know but a week or so later he had four more teeth. He still will bite my fingers if he's about to break a tooth. If that's what he needs to get by, and since there's no maliciousness to it, I don't really care.

But if it's not teething, I'd just say firmly "ow, biting hurts", and find something else for her to chomp on.
