New here...Help me choose!
Hi! I'm new here and need a little help.
I just had our fifth baby in January and haven't found a carrier that I just love. A bit of info... I have a Baby K'tan and a Hotslings. The Hotslings I used with baby #4 and liked it "okay" as she got older in a few positions but not cradled as a newborn. My K'tan I just got before this baby was born. I love it for around the house, but for some reason it just looks big and sloppy. ![]() I want a carrier mostly for ease of shopping. Crazy, I know, but I'm running out of places to put kiddos in a grocery buggy! I defintely want somethig I can wear with her facing in. And I (think) I want something a bit more structured than what I have. I don't mind a wrap as long as there isn't a ton of fabric dangling. What do you ladies recommend? I love the looks of the Beco, but I'm not sure if it's really great for newborns. hould I maybe do a wrap until she's older and then go with something more structured? Please help! My brain hurts!!! Thanks, Rachel |

Re: New here...Help me choose!
I think you could do a moby or sleepy wrap first, then switch to a soft structure if you wanted. That's what I did...I *loved* our sleepy wrap!! They are so snuggly for newborns! If you want to just go straight to a SSC, in my limited experience, I would recommend a Beco Butterfly 2!! It has the infant insert, and works pretty well, and will last you a long time.

Re: New here...Help me choose!
If you want to just make one purchase that will last you through toddlerhood, and you want more structure...a Soft STructured Carrier would be great. And a beco (both the Gemini and the Butterfly II) are great for newborns...the infant insert in the BBII is awesome, and the Gemini can be used with the baby "froggy legged" in it. I prefer the BBII over the Gemini, b/c I'm not a huge fan of padded bodies or facing out.

Re: New here...Help me choose!
I am addicted to wrapping! I would say a stretchy wrap of some kind and then you can move on from there

Re: New here...Help me choose!
I loved my babyhawk for all ages. I thought I wouldn't use it in the newborn stages but I did and loved it.

I have both the BBII and a Gemini and I used the BBII from the beginning and LOVED it!!! I didn't get the Gemini until he was about 6 months but we now love it too!!!

Re: New here...Help me choose!
If you are open to buying more thanone I would go with a stretchy wrap now and something more structured later. If you just want one thing I would look at The Beco Butterfly or Gemini or the Angelpack. All of them can be used with a newborn on up.

Re: New here...Help me choose!
Okay, so maybe I'll go with a wrap for now. And that will give me some time to decide on a SSC. But now the question is which wrap???? What do I look for in a wrap?
Does anyone know anything about the Wrap N Wear? It looks like a really good wrap and I LOVE the looks of it. |

Re: New here...Help me choose!
The Wrap n Wear is a gauze-y type wrap that has a little bit of one way stretchy to it. It's made from crinkle cotton. I like it and it will last you a little bit longer than a stretchy wrap, weight wise. It's also reallllly lightweight. For stretchy wraps, my favorite is the Sleepy Wrap! LOVE it!

Re: New here...Help me choose!
I've never heard of the wrapNwear...but I *loved* my sleepy wrap!! It's stretchy and super snuggly for newborns...but it won't last, either. Many don't recommend using stretchy wraps past about 15lbs. Or there are woven wraps, which you can use always, all the way through large toddlers...they can be pricey though, but are amazing! :P
