In pain! Advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ok, so for the last week or so I have been having really painful BH and I have been having A LOT of them, so much so that I thought I was going into labor. Well, I went to L&D (I'm 35wks, I guess I should mention that, lol) last night and they checked me and I am not dialated at all so the contractions are doing nothing. The nurse commented on how many contractions I was having but since they weren't doing anything she let me go home. I was so relieved that I wasn't in labor that I forgot to ask if there is anything I can do about the pain/frequency of the BH. I am already drinking a lot of water and it is not helping so I was wondering if there is anything else I can do because this is torture and I can't stand the thought of going the next month feeling like this everyday. I have a doctors appt. on tuesday and I am going to ask about it then, but any help in the mean time would be sooo great! TYIA

I am sorry I don't have any advice. With all 3 of my pregnancies the last month was just miserable. I was actually having to stop and breathe through the BH. I don't know of anything that would help except maybe taking a little tylenol to take the edge off. I know that doesn't make you feel any better. Stay tough mama, it's almost over

A warm bath always did the trick for me. Good luck Mama!

A warm bath, staying hydrated, and if you have one of those big exercise balls they are great to bounce on, they sort of take the pressure off that lower part of your back. Those are my best tricks!

stretching and hydration. Also make sure you are getting at least 400mg of magnesium per day as well as 1000 mg of calcium. Don't take with iron. They compete.

No help, but I thought BH's weren't supposed to hurt? I had them with DD1 and now with DD2, but they weren't ever painful.

This. Light candles, and play soft music. I had these from 35-38 weeks with my third and it was always worse in the afternoon and evening.

And just because you aren't dilated now, doesn't mean its not doing anything. Your body is prepping for labor - training and toning the uterus just like an athlete getting ready to run a marathon. I bet you'll start softening and dilating/effacing a bit over the next weeks. I wasn't dilating when it started but by 37 wks I was at 2 cm and 50% effaced.
