Pregos and Acne

Okay.. my face is breaking out like crazy for the past few months. It started when I got my period back in December. I have never had it bad like this. Then I got pregnant and it got worse. Now it is all over.

What can I use that won't harm the baby ?
What should I stay away from ?

Stay away from anything containing steroids, and stay away from Accutane...

My skin always breaks out when I'm pg...however, I have found a direct connection to how much water I drink. Since I've DRASTICALLY increased my water consumption (I try for 8 16oz glasses a day, due to the multiple pregnancy plus chances of dehydration in the heat) my skin has REALLY cleared up. Still some subtle acne on the t-zone, but way better than a month ago.

Any simple acne treatments (like Clean & Clear) are I think OK...but honestly, drinking tons of water is the best thing I have found yet.

I have increased my water so much. I even totaly quit the Sodas and have juices and water. I am eating better now then ever in my life and my face looks like crap. I feel when I try to do something good then it makes things worse.

When I moved to NJ, my face broke out worse than it ever had. I used Proactiv, and it mostly cleared it up. But then I got pregnant, and Proactiv stopped working. What I've been using since January is the Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil line of products. My face has cleared up to pretty much what it used to be pre-NJ. It took about a month for it to be really noticable. I use the bar soap, the mud mask, and for face lotion, I use Oil of Olay Sensitive Skin. HTH!

mine has broken out too - i've never had acne and now this pregnancy all of a sudden I do - I was using proactive cause that was what hubby uses but when I got preggo it quit working

Can you tell me a link to that tea tree oil stuff????

what about that burts bees blemish stick? I havent' used it but people have said good things about it.

I don't use anything but my face is more prone to breakouts when I am pregnant too. With my first pregnancy it was so bad I was embarrassed to go out anywhere. With this one it's not as bad, or mabye I just don't care as much anymore...LOL

Since preggy acne is mostly hormonal, there's only so much you can do, I think...it usually seems to ease up for me during the early second trimester...
