ounces needed for 16pound EBF 5mo per day?

yippee! I am getting a weekend away to play without the kiddos!

but I need to pump for the littlest - how much do you think my 5month old EBF DS will need? He's probably ~16 pounds?

My son at 15 lbs eats about 4-6 oz. at each feeding when pumped...but every child is different. Just pump as much as you can. Better too much then not enough!

liv is 6 days older than my dd and noah a month and two days younger than my ds!

is your dh 4y younger than you too?

LLL's rule of thumb is multiply baby's weight by 2.5 and that is the number of ounces the baby takes in 24 hours. So divide that total number by number of feedings per day and you'll have your per feeding ounce measurement!
So 16 * 2.5 = 40 oz
If he eats 8 times, that's 5 oz. per feeding.

this is what I was going to say. I used to figure how my son's by doing x3
16x3 48
so 6oz per feeding GL

My pediatrician said that the general rule is 1oz per hour. Some babies need a little more and some a little less.

I'm going to be away from my 5 month old for a day next week. Just the daytime so I will nurse her once or twice when I get up and will be home to nurse at dinner and bedtime. I'm aiming for 40 ounces in the freezer, but I hope that is a ridiculously high estimate of what I will need. I have 20 so far. I figure I'll be fine with 30 ounces or a bit less but want to cover all my bases just in case. Dd also started eating cereal a few days ago so she can have some of that too, but wasn't eating cereal when I starting planning. I left ds1 once for the day when he was about a month old, and he went through over twenty ounces by noon time I think.
