Re: Preparing cats for a baby?

We didn't really do anything to prepare our cats for DS. They shied away from him at first, and then began approaching him if he was asleep in his bouncy chair.

The main thing I noticed is that one of my cats is way too desperate for my attention, even now. I think it bugged her that I was home all day, but not paying attention to her. She's always been a bit of a needy cat, but before DS was born she only really cared about DH.

We never had any "problems" (i.e. scratches, hissing, etc.), until DS started walking and chasing after the cats.

Re: Preparing cats for a baby?

I've got everything set up, all around the house. I know your nursery is done, but if you put out the swing, bouncy, etc that will be moved around it will give the cats a chance to get used to things. I just did that this last week, and it's given my cat lots of time to sniff things out and explore them. Next week I'm going to start teaching her where she's not allowed, but I think she deserves the chance to check out all the new stuff first.
