Re: Uh, why did this change? Body of pm's not showing in notification emails

I am going to voice what will probably be a very unpopular opinion here. I actually can;t believe there are so many grown women complaining (and even becoming rude and aggressive) about something so trivial. This site doesn't have to cater to any one group of members. For every one of you who has expressed such displeasure with the change I am sure there are many more who either agree that it is a good thing or simply don't think it is that big of a deal.

I, for one, think it is a good idea. Yes, it adds more work to my fsoting here. Yes, it can be a bit more inconvenient at times. But it really isn't something to get in a big uproar over. If this small change can really help even 1 or 2 mamas then it is worth it.

It was actually a benefit for me. I was in a crappy transaction. I sent a pm about it to the seller. Had she been able to read the pm in her email she would have likely not opened it here. The time stamp I received when she did open it helped me win my case with PayPal. I would not have had that time stamp had she been able to read my pm via email.

Emmaluv, by saying this, are you suggesting that grown women shouldn't complain about something that they are unhappy about? If so, how are people to go about getting something changed?

Sure, it's not the worst problem in the world, but it's certainly an inconvenience.

I can think of one time where my email actually helped me get the measurement details from an old pm for an item I had custom knit for my son that the knitter had accidentally knit to the wrong measurements. (She was very nice and fixed it)

That is great that the time stamp helped you with your paypal case, but the email change might not have had anything to do with that. She might have logged in and read the message anyway.

I guess I have been lucky, but I've had no issue with scammers as of yet. I think they are very much in the minority here.

Does anyone know if there was a sticky or a formal thread announcing this change? If so, what's the link? Was there any sort of warning before the change?

I've had to file with pp before. they only required me to show that I SENT the message or email not that it was read. They also required more information than just ONE message. So while your time stamp might have been provided to paypal, I'm thinking that they based their decision on many things and not just one time stamp.

I also think that having a thread helps keep the number of PMs to the admin down. If we could not have threads, then many posters would just send PMs to mods.

Edit, I really would like a button that will send a pm we received to our email like the download button. This would still make users login to read PMs and give timestamps.
