quick paypal ?

A couple weeks ago paypal said I hit some $5000 limit and that I had to link my bank account. WOW, luckily it took 3 years to hit that limit but anyway I am ready to make a payment for a co-op and now I notice that it says "Instant Transfer" and then my bank account details for my checking account. So, my question is, do I still need to cover fees? It isn't paid by a credit card anymore, although when it was it was my debit card. I don't want to cover fees if I don't have to but I also don't want to not send fees and have the co-op host have to do extra work. Any one know?

Re: quick paypal ?

if you are sending it personal payment owed then you don't need to cover fees (most co-ops here have you send in the 1st payment as personal and then the shipping as goods)
if you are sending it goods then you will need to cover fees

here's the paypal fee info

here's the paypal fee calculator if you need to figure out fees

Re: quick paypal ?

PP fees are voodoo and black magic. My bank is linked, and if I fund my PP through the bank, THEN send money as personal payment owed, then I'm OK

Re: quick paypal ?

I believe if you send it as personal payment owed and not goods then if you don't receive your goods there is nothing paypal can do about it.

True, but OP mentioned the coop host

Other people, for sure pay the fee, it's like insurance.

Re: quick paypal ?

I had mine linked to my bank account, but had an alternative payment option as my form of payment. Just an idea....

My husband has a business paypal so his is now linked to our checking and mine is no longer linked I always try to remember to tell people but tend to forget.....

Re: quick paypal ?

I've sent a lot as personal payment owed, like for customs the deposit and other payments if any and then the final payment is goods, the co-op is like that too. The first payment is personal payment owed then when I send shipping money that will be goods. I just didn't want to cause a problem for the host but since it is a transfer of money instead of a card I guess I get off without the fees.
