How do I know what's safe to take?

I am always anemic with all my pregnancies and usually take an herbal iron supplement when I am not pregnant. Usually after I am pregnant I take prenatals plus a prescribed iron tablet. The lab made irons make me so sick so I have been going with out iron but I need to start taking it I just can't stand the way I feel. So I really want to take my herbal iron ,all of the iron is derived from food not chemicals and it works wonders but I have no idea if it is safe to take because it does not have a class. Is there a site that is reliable to check for safety during pregnancy? Here's what I was taking:http://www.vitacost.com/New-Chapter-...s-Iron-Support

I take Floradix while pregnant, it is also an herbal iron supplement. It was recommended to me by my midwives.

ETA: I just looked at the ingredients of the supplement you are considering and I don't see anything that looks unsafe. It has a lot of similar ingredients to the Floradix and other pregnancy herbal teas I have seen on the market.

I wouldn't even blink an eye at that supplement. I take another whole food iron supplement called Blood Builder.

Website to check for drugs in pregnancy.

Thanks mamas dh said that if I eat all those foods I would get it anyways so it shouldn't matter if I take it in pill form.

If in doubt, I'd ask your doc/midwife. IMO, that is why you pay him or her.

new chapter is a great, very reputable company I have super duper anemia problems while pregnant and have to take a lot of supplements. I can't remember them all, but Floravital was one, I took way more than the recommended dose as advised by midwife, alfalfa is another and then I also took a tincture from www.herblore.com, it was amazing at getting my #s up and the lady is super sweet and knowledgeable.

Re: How do I know what's safe to take?

My midwife has recommend Floradix to me during both pregnancies. I love that it comes in pill form now.
