Re: Tide lowers price of diapers?

That is just aweful. I only use tide. I have not had ammonia problems at all.

Did you sell them to her?? I think she was ripping you off. That sounds unfair.

I could see if she was worried about allergy issues but if that was the case then she should have been asking for only free & clear detergents be used.

I've been washing diapers in All Free for 11 years now & never had a problem. I'm sure it's not 100% true in all cases but it seems most diaper brands who state that washing in Tide, etc will void everything, sell their own brand of detergent & it just feels like a sales ploy to get people to buy their detergents.

Re: Tide lowers price of diapers?

I am a former Tide user and switched over to all natural detergents years ago and I can say, I can smell Tide and scented detergent on clothes. Even when I get diapers in mail, I can smell them. The reason I use all natural is for ethical (Non Animal testing, sustainable) and health (no harsh chemicals or additives in the home) reasons so buying diapers that have been used in other detergents besides what I use is no issue but I can see how it would be if this was a very crunchy and natural parenting type of consignment store. Also for mamas with babies with allergies and sensitivities.

I think the problem with commercial brands such as Tide is the optical brighteners and other additives that voids warrenty for some diaper companies which hurts the resell value. So I do see a valid reasoning there. And while yes, the natural detergent mamas do combat stink and stains from time to time for using all natural detergent. That is nothing a little sun and boiling water can't fix. I don't think this is elitist, just how I prefer to wash my diapers.

That being said, what she offered for them is way low. Consignment stores will obviously offer the lowest price because they too need to make money but that's just too low. That's like ffs.
