Question DS only wants to nurse sidelying.....

So DS is turning into a picky eater position wise
Almost 5 months into BFing the little guy, everything has been great until now
So for about a month now he will only nurse sidelying, perfect for night, but during the day when I have visitors or have to go out,. not so much; I can't be lying on the ground NIP
Has anyone else encountered this? Any suggestions as to how to correct this

Re: DS only wants to nurse sidelying.....

Just a couple thoughts. First, is he getting teeth? Has he had his ears checked recently? Does he have reflux? I always like to hit physical issues first.

Have you tried different positions like football hold?

If none of those work, I'd suggest chiropractic. I've had some issues with my current son nursing and a lot of it had to do with his neck muscles. But, he had the problems from birth, not just coming on all of the sudden. Still, it's worth a shot if you know a good one and can afford it.

He does have reflux which is being treated with Ranitidine which is doing a really good job
No teeth as far as I can tell right now I've tried the football hold but he is really uncomfortable as he's pretty big 5 months.
When I am able to get him nursing sitting, it doesn't last for longer than about 5 minutes :bandhead: and he just gets frustrated and we lie down and he calms right down and nurses perfectly
Why would sidelying be more comfortable for him with the reflux??

BTDT actually was a nice way to take a break most days.

Do you use a nursing cushion? maybe it's more comfy in bed than your current set up?

how does it work using a baby sling?

Your flow might be faster when upright, maybe it's too much for him?

We have a Neka nursing pillow and I love it; works for several different uses other than BFing He nurses really well when being wrapped actually

I think you might be right Mama My let down is very fast; before we knew he had reflux, you could hear him gulping while nursing, indicative of my super fast letdown

So we've had two very successful nursing sessions in the living room using our Neka he's nursed really quickly, and wasn't having any troubles with my fast let down
that it continues
