Re: Where are you having your baby?

Free Standing Birth Center, about 30 minutes from my home. It's where I had DD, too. I will also keep this baby's placenta, just as I did for DD. We plant a fruit tree in the backyard, and bury the placenta with it. DS was born in a hospital, with private L&D/Recovery rooms - they were all in one. I can't imagine having to be moved to a new room after giving birth!

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Memphis was born in the hospital, though it was not the hospital I had planned on having him at.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

We're having this one at home, and will be our first homebirth. I'm just not feeling very hospital friendly anymore, and so I refuse to go there unless it's an emergency.

For the placenta, I'm keeping it in the freezer until we decide what to do with it.

I forgot to say that my mw always takes care of the placenta, though honestly I don't have a clue what they do with it.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

we are going to a birth center. i work in a hospital and can't help but associate it with nasty sick germy stuff-- and i want to have a healthy normal delivery.
but--- big question, what is the purpose of keeping the placenta?? i have heard of burying it, but in the freezer for later?? i'm sorry, but WHY??

You can eat it, or encapsulate it to take as a supplement. Apparently, it's a great remedy for PPD.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Hospital here. I'd LOVE to have a home birth but DH is not on board with that at all and is terrified of something happening even though we live literally 5 blocks from the hospital.

Hospital Birthing Center. Private Rooms. Good food. Good bed for dh. In room tv. WIFI. I am okay with all of it. I have to be there for 2-3 days and last time I was quite comfy.

Re: Where are you having your baby?

Im doing local hospital for a scheduled repeat C-section. Ill transfer there when I get past 34 weeks from the one Im in now, as the one I prefer doesnt handle under 34 weekers, and this one has a premium NICU for those younger.
