Alfalfa? Anyone know how much to take?

Hi mamas,
I am having horrible swelling in my arms and hands - like to the point that my right hand is numb and/or tingly most of the time. A friend suggested alfalfa to help move some of the fluid back to where it should be. I guess it is good for possible PPH and nursing too???

Does anyone know how much to take? I'm 35 weeks.

Thanks!

Dandelion is a better option for that, for swelling, but also alfalfa is great to take in the last weeks of pregnancy for PPH. I take 6 alfalfa tablets per day from 34 weeks and I take 1-2 dandelion a day in my third trimester.

Thanks Annabelle! Any crazy side effects I should know about for either alfalfa or dandelion?

None, they are mild, but work wonders. Oh, looser stools w/ alfalfa, not a bad thing for me

I second what Annabelle said. Dandelion will help with the swelling and has the added bonus of stabilizing blood pressure. Alfalfa with give you a nice iron boost to help avoid anemia after birth. Another thing to help with swelling is to take a nice warm bath with epsom salt in it. Also make sure you are drinking a lot water. It will help flush out the extra fluids. Avoid salt and up your protein intake as much as possible. Hope you feel better soon!
