FINALLY was able to nurse in a carrier!!

I am so excited!! I took the kids to lunch and the baby was wanting to eat and so I popped in a dressing room (had already started walking around the store, and that's the only place they have to sit, for in case it didnt work out, and I wasn't sure how discreet I could be on my first try). I had tried it once before in this same carrier (a BBII), and failed miserably...I forget why now, but it was probably at least a month ago, and DD2 is almost 4.5mos now...anyways, so I loosened the straps and scooted het to the side more, just a smidge, and got her latched on and it just worked! You couldn't tell unless someone would look down inside and I was completely covered thanks to my nursing tank. SUCCESS!! She fell asleep and I easily unmatched her and re-situated my shirt, and her in the carrier! It was so easy, I'm baffled why I couldn't do it before (despite having to continually bend over to pick up thing my twins were dropping, repeatedly, while trying to accidentally unlatch her :P)! LOL

I seriously think it's all about head/torso control. I couldn't do it in an SSC until DD was 8ish months old, IIRC... but I'd quit trying for quite awhile there.

yes dd is also getting too long for us to do it successfully...but i loved toddlerhawk my mt for that...it was very easy for me to use the headrest as additional discreetness..lol..i couldnt do it in a ssc, but i hardly tried...once i did it in the toddlerhawk, it was my go-to carrier on the go! i just got another boba (after selling my old one (big mistake!) so im hoping i can nurse her while in the boba. i may ask for help in about a week! lol

I nursed in my ergo for the first time today! DD and I were watching my husband trout fish on a stream... I used the sleeping hood. Hubby was standing like 3 feet away from me. He said "is she sleeping?" And I told him what I was doing. He said "cool. I didn't even know!"

Re: FINALLY was able to nurse in a carrier!!

I haven't really NEEDED to do it, but it is nice to be able to do it when I'm out alone with all 3 kids and don't have to stop to sit and feed while trying to keep the twins contained and happy at the same time. lol And, when I use my BBII and hadn't figured out nursing in it, and had to take it all the way off to do so, I then didn't have anywhere to set the baby while I put it on.

Yes before good head/torso control it is hard to do it with them in the upright position. Glad you figured it out mama
