Questions on the width of cotton gauze DIY wrap...

So.... Totally new to this wrapping thing and due at the end of May with a newbie. I really wanted to figure something out where we can wear the baby in the heat, so I bought some cotton gauze on sale today in a beautiful print. It's about 4.5m and 55" wide. I'm wondering if I can get by with making two out of it, making both of them about 27" wide? Would that be too skinny? I hate to waste the remainder if I have to cut it??
What do you guys think??
Thanks in advance!

It could work but that is on the thin side. Does that include the hem?

I think so. As long as you aren't wrapp in a 3 yr old you should be great. That's the main concern I have learned with width. Something that size would be great for up to around 2 or so. How big is your little one?

I'd only be using it for a newbie as we have a beco and I've heard that they don't work for a nb... hmmm... so maybe I could cut it in half. It seems like sooo much fabric! I've never wrapped a baby and don't really know anybody who does, so I'm totally guessing about what I'll like!
