2 week appt :(

Well Theo has only gained 2 ozs in the last 9 days. my ped said that it's normal for my milk production to be low, due to the meds I'm on and the stress from the PE. For the next week we have to substitute with formula once or twice a day, and he has to go for another weight check next week.

We also got the appt for his kidney US scheduled for next week.

I'm praying my milk supply will improve quickly, I really don't want to substitute.

Re: 2 week appt :(

So sorry. Not to poke at the already stressful situation, but the more bottles of formula you supplement with, the less your supply will be. Nursing is a supply and demand thing, so you should definitely put him on the breast for every feeding... even every hour or so if need be. After he nurses for a bit on both sides, if he'll still take it, you could offer the formula, so then you know he's at least getting the extra calories, but if you just substitute the formula for an actual nursing feeding, you will end up hurting your supply more.

Fenugreek helps boost supply. Not sure if it will work w/ your meds you are on, but I bet it wouldn't hurt. Drink lots and lots and lots and lots of water too! GL mama!!
