How much mama milk (in oz) should a 1 year old be getting? He doesnt really do much water or juice and we are JUST starting moo moo milk (2oz a day tops)...I have been pumping right now and giving him his mama milk in a sippy to get him used to a sippy cup.

Any thoughts? I am not worried so much in terms of nutrition, more so in terms of liquid.

hard to say since you can't ever really tell how much babes are getting when they nurse...I guess my answer would be 'as much as he wants'. Babies are pretty good regulators of themselves. If he's still nursing consistently, I would personally try to offer water rather than cow's milk in the sippy - cow's milk is VERY constipating (case in point: my 2 1/2 year old niece who drinks almost NO water or juice and LOTS of cow's milk, and almost daily has incredibly painful poops that leave her sobbing...), and he really doesn't need it (unless he's a calf, lol) if he's still getting mama milk.

No more than 16oz of cow's milk per day. Anything over and above that puts child at risk for iron deficiency anemia, not to mention the constipation and excess weight gain. BM is better or water and some juice.

I am not trying to feed him the cow milk (no more than 2oz a day) I just wanted to know how much mama milk he should get a day?

when ariana was around a year i gave her two nuby cups one in the morning and one after dinner so 18 oz?

I haven't given ds mommy milk in a cup. He does not like cows milk. He currenly has a cold so I encourage water sometimes 1 oz juice w/3oz water...

My 11 mo old gets about 40 oz a day.... 8 oz of a water / juice mix, and 4 8 oz bottles of formula!! Does that help??
