wool help! please!

I have two sbish longies and I'm having a bit of a problem...

they have both been lanolized really really well but every time DD wears them at night they leak right through the crotch seam (front AND back) in a matter of an hour or so.

do i have to lanolize the crap out of the seam? and I doing something wrong?
help!

What diaper do you have under it? It sounds like she needs more absorbency.

Sent from my iPhone and usually NAK, excuse the typos!

I agree with pp... usually when wool is super "leaky" it is because there is not enough absorbency underneath. Have you tried a doubler?

I had to super-lanolize my SBish knit longies 2-3 times before they worked well for a long time like overnight.

I've always been told 'less is more'. Have you tried just a little lanolin?

Re: wool help! please!

i tried a little the first time they were lanolized. (pea size mixed with baby wash in a sink-full of water). that failed horribly. so i lanolized them again using just a bit more and still leaking. but only leaking from the crotch seam. every other area of the longies are holding up. I've tried all kinds of combo's for underneath (prefolds, fitteds, double stuffed fitteds, super stuffed fitteds...). I must be missing something.....

Re: wool help! please!

I've only used the sbish knit soaker so I am unsure as to how the longies are constructed but I know Karen from GMD recomends using a doubler carefully placed to stop the flow of urine. Think about it like this, your wool may be well enough lanolized that it floats but if you ran it under water it would leak. But based on how much your stuffing that probably isnt the issue. I would say re-lanoliz several times and make sure it is 100% dry. I've noticed that my sbish soaker takes way longer to dry then any of my other wool. When I wash it I actually end up popping it in the dryer on low heat for bit to completely dry it out. I find that even my most bullet proof wool will leak if not 100% dry and sometimes its hard to tell if its dry because its greasy from lanolin and feels wet already.
