Good Family dessert for a provided dinner?
I am in charge of dessert this week for a local family who lost their husband/dad last month. It is a mom and her two kids, ages 6 & 2. What dessert would be good and last more than a day or 2?

A refrigerated pie will last more than a day and should provide for at least 6 pieces.
Cake is also good and children love icing typically. Brownies are also a favorite around my house. A large gallon of ice cream is also loved at my house. If you are looking for something more healthy maybe oatmeal cookies or pb cookies. |

Cookies or brownies are good choices.

I make a vegan carrot cake that is out of this world yummy and easy. It could last a week in the fridge but thats if its not eaten first.

Dump cake, so easy and yummy!
2 cans pie filling (I use cherry) dump in 9x13 pan (not greased) 1 cake mix (yellow or white) dump over top of pie filling (do not stir) 1 stick of butter cut up into small cubes and placed randomly on top of cake mix (do not stir) put in 350 oven for thirty minutes or until brown on top |

Cookies, brownies, or maybe a big dish of fruit salad? If many desserts have been provided, the mom may be happy for something a little less sugary.

I like the fruit idea. a nice angel food or pound cake with berries and whipped cream and maybe some low sugar peanut butter oatmeal cookies for the second day.

Re: Good Family dessert for a provided dinner?
How about apple crisp? Its sweet enough without being too sweet. If mom is grieving, two children on a huge sugar high might be hard on her Although Im not sure how long it can last in a fridge, its always gone after 2 days here lol
