You can make fish sticks super healthy if you bread them with multi-grain breadcrumbs and chia. Fish is a nice lean protein, so why not?!
That said, I think the only way to help a child kick a picky diet is to continually offer a variety of food. In our house (and I know it doesn't work for everyone), I cook one dinner of a protein, starch and a few vegetable options. The rule is that you need to eat at least one bite of each and if you don't eat what you're given, you're out of luck. Although I have to admit that sometimes I'll let them eat fruit if the meal was a complete failure for them both. But there is no alternate dinners and there's no way I'm cooking two separate meals! |
