HELP! Everything is pink!

Gahhhhh!!!! I accidentally threw in a purple placemat with my lovely white dipes. And then I thought I'd just use a tad bit of bleach to take the color out, but now they're all PINK!

The purple was at least pretty - this pink is hideous and sooooooo not gonna fly for my DS!

What's the stuff called that gets color out, and does it work??? PLEASE someone tell me it works!!!

RIT dye remover. I've heard good things about it. (But apparently the RIT dye is awful ) If you use it just rinse rinse rinse and then rinse some more!

Thank you!!! I'm sending DH to the store on his way home - he always needs exact names of products or he comes home empty-handed ;-)

Re: HELP! Everything is pink!

I did that and the color came out of the natural fibers after a couple of weeks (I washed every other day). The color is not coming out of the PUL at all, it seems to be there to stay. I did not try RIT dye remover (which I looked for everywhere and finally found at a crafts store -- Joann's in my case). I used it for something else and it seems very harsh and chemically, so I was afraid to use it on my dipes. The instructions say not to get it on your hands and to use it in a well-ventilated area and to open the packet right above the water so you don't inhale it... that scared me, I didn't want it on the dipes. But then, my dipes didn't look soooo bad... they are a pretty pink. Except I have a boy!

I did that with a dark green placemat. My unbleached pfs were green tinted for awhile but now you wouldn't be able to tell which ones were once green. This was 5 months ago.

The only diaper that didn't recover from the green color was my BGE.

Since you've already gotten answers from others, I'll just pass on that if you want to keep it from happening again, add Shout Color Catcher with your wash.

Re: HELP! Everything is pink!

I dyed a prefold red with RIT (haha, I know better now!) and it got tossed in with DS's entire newborn stash and everything came out PINK! Mind you, this was after that red prefold had already been washed about 20 times, but it was still bleeding color everywhere! Anyway, even RIT dye remover couldn't fix it, neither did bleach. I wouldn't use the dye remover on anything except prefolds, I agree with the PP that said it seems really harsh. DS was only in his newbie stuff for about 3 weeks, so it all stayed pink, but maybe repeated washings will help fade the color?
