Any stretches or massages that I can do at home for this pain?

I suddenly got a really bad stabbing pain in my upper back. It's sort of by my shoulder blade. I'm not opposed to going to the chiropractor at all - but just not an option on Saturday evening. It's such a bad pain that I am almost throwing up.
Any ideas?

Oh - I'm 17 weeks pregnant - not sure if this limits different movements

I'm in a bunch of pain to but mine isn't quite as high as yours, and I have found no position that helps. I have been on the floor on the couch in the desk chair on the exercise ball you name it I have tried it! The only thing that gives me any relief right now is DH push/rubbing the area, but as soon as he stops the pain comes right back. I'm 17 weeks as well and I think this pregnancy may be the end of me!!!!

xavier &ellas mommy - yeah this is shooting up into my neck. feels liked a pinched nerve or a horrible knot. My husband just back home today and I haven't had problems till today. He pushes and rubs and that really helps, but pain starts once he stops just like yours.
I hope you get relief soon. I'll try and get to the chiro this coming week.

I would try some yoga type stretches just to loosen the body.

I highly suggest the chiro!
