![]() You can also request the jell that diabetics use to raise their sugar. I knew a co-worker who was allergic to citric acid, and she had to get a script for the jell because the drinks have citric acid.

All you need is a pin prick blood test to measure sugar levels. Its done right in the office, during a regular appt. Id ask to do that. Its much cheaper so they dont offer it alot of times, go figure!

Re: Do you HAVE to do the glucose screening?
So I'm switching from my current dr. to the midwives I used last time. I met with him this week and he was finally seemed to take this all seriously which meant that I needed to be seen by the ob./gyn (he's a family practioner) I was driving an hour to see this particular dr. I am not about to get to know another set of doctors. I'll shave off some travel time too. I only got to a midwife on the phone and her question was basically if I didn't take the 3 hour then I don't have a true diagnosis. I explained that I have been testing my blood (4 times a day hoping to reduce that) and I am keeping my levels within normal limits with a very restricted diet. You have to look at my testing numbers AND my food log to really understand that. I do not know why this three hour test is the answer to everything just because it is protocol. Anyone taking Metforin?

Re: Do you HAVE to do the glucose screening?
Hi there, just wanted to let you know that my daughter was born on monday via c-section at 7lb.4oz and 19 3/4 ''. She did not have jaundice or any problems regulating her sugars. I will keep my diet for a while since I think it is good for me. I will see my endocrinologist in six weeks and hope that my A1C will be even further down. I have not controlled my bs since delivery, but might next week again. Good luck to everybody that has to deal with gd, I am glad I got control over it and think that this was in the best interest for my baby's and my health.
