Could this be reflux??

My DS is EBF and has been having a rough few days. He eats constantly, I mean he might go 30 minutes in between feedings most of the day. He actively nurses for anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes a session, with most being between 20 and 30 minutes. He will not sleep flat on his back, he wakes up within minutes gasping and choking, and then screams! At night he burps and hiccups and screams, and is so upset it takes him about ten minutes to settle in to nurse. He is having about 10 wet diapers and 6 dirty diapers a day. He burps a lot, and if his tummy is tight mylicon helps. During the night screaming sessions I feel his tummy and it does not feel tight, and when i.havr tried mylicon it did not help. At night his breath stinks really bad. He spits up a bit in his mouth, but no more. What is this?

Re: Could this be reflux??

Hmm, it could be. I'd check with his doctor on that. Do you baby wear at all? Keeping him in a more upright position might help. When you feed him at night are you waking him to feed or is he waking you up crying? If he's crying to wake you, it's possible he's just getting too worked up before feeding. Try waking him to feed. Not sure what else to suggest except try the doctor.

If you were supplementing I'd think it was overfeeding. But since you're EBF the reflux seems to fit. Sorry I'm not more help.
