Re: This sounds horrible but please help

I only do diaper laundry every 4-5 days.
To get everything really clean I stop the washer in the wash cycle and let them soak in the detergent for a good 15-25 minutes. It works like a charm. No issues.

I should add that I always do a pretty heavy wash routine though lol. I do a cold rinse, cold wash w/ det, hot wash w/ det and then a cold rinse. But we have never had to strip or anything. It works for us.

You may have to do 2 full wash cycles instead of one or add a little bleach as well. It should be okay though. I'd aim for washing on certain days like Wed. and Sun. if you can to try to keep up with the routine. I have been washing twice a week lately and I can still get away with only one wash cycle, but I do a have a top loader that uses lots of water. Also I use a 30 minute soak before the hot wash so they soak in the detergent for awhile which seems to get them cleaner.

I do use a strong detergent (Tide free & gentle or Costco's generic version) plus a couple tbsp bleach, so I'm not sure if the gentler natural detergents would work. We have cotton prefolds, hemp prefolds, PUL covers and pockets. Our diapers come out perfect even after 4-5 days and they don't stink really much at all in the pail.

I've never really washed more than once a week and have only stripped diapers once in the past 2.5 years - HE FL with hard water at that.

wow, didn't know this was possible(; I wash every 2-3 days and feel things start getting a bit stinky if I wait too much longer. But maybe it depends on the type of dipe and washing routine. Hope it works out for you!

I wash every four or five days.I have a bum genius pail, and I wash when it is full. I have a front loader that I just run a cold rinse and a hot wash(a rinse is included at the end). I use in between the 1/2 mark and the 1 mark of original tide. I have never had stink issues or repelling issues since making the change(was washing every other day with Nelly's or ALL)and my life is so much simpler now!

I wash every four days. I don't use bleach. They always come out stain free and smelling fresh. I don't use a diaper sprayer either

Re: This sounds horrible but please help

Very possible. I wash about every 4 days, on average. When I just used prefolds, was in school, and working, I washed once a week. I never had any stink issues then, and I don't now. I use Tide Original Powder with a scoop of Oxyclean in the pre-wash cycle. I've never had time or energy for a complicated wash routine.
