My Mood:
What's Up With My Microfiber?

I've been in diaper prepping mode lately! I've prepped prefolds, covers, my old stash and I'm working on some new stuff. I've been checking absorbency by pouring a bit of warm water on stuff and seeing how quickly it absorbs. I'm noticing my new mf inserts aren't absorbing. The water just stays on the top. Even some of my old ones aren't doing it. My hemp sucks up the water quickly.

I'm, Erin. Christian wife to Kurt. SAHM to DD 23 and DS 20 ; DS 11 and a DS 8. DD 6! I'm a Birth Doula, LC, and Christian CBE.

From what I understand, mf absorption works through pressure, so just dumping the liquid on top will have no effect.

I might not understand the science completely right though...

Any typos are probably a combination of my phone and poor proofreading!

Re: What's Up With My Microfiber?

My MFs are the most absorbent of any inserts. Did you prep them with new hemp, bamboo or cotton inserts? They say not to do this because the oils from the natural fibers can coat the MF, making it less absorbent. I would try washing them a few more times and drying on high.
