What is going on?
Last night I noticed that I was starting to get a clogged duct so I used massage, heat and nursed frequently all night. I also pumped once during the night. This morning the clog feels better (still tender but the big lump is gone) but now my supply is down. When I pumped first thing in the morning, something I always do, I got half the amount I typically do. Also it seems to take forever for letdown when baby is nursing today. I started on POP last Wednesday, is it possible that is the cause even though it's not supposed to interfere with supply? Other thoughts?

Re: What is going on?
Kellymom says that reduced output is often a temporary side effect of a plugged duct. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/mastitis.html
It will probably get better soon! Take care of yourself!

Re: What is going on?
I'd take a PG test just to calm my own nerves, but I agree that it's probably due to the clog. Keep the water up!!

I'm confused as to why you are suggesting a PG test? I started on progesterone only pill last week, 6 weeks pp but have not had sex. I'm thinking it's a combo of the clogged duct and the bc pill

Re: What is going on?
While the POP could affect ur pumping out put, most likely the culprit is the plugged duct. I've had that happen to me before. Drink lots of water, rest as much as you can, and nurse, nurse, nurse. Hope u feel better, soon!!! Take care!

Re: What is going on?
I agree that it's probably the plugged duct, but the POP CAN decrease supply--it happened to me. Just keep and eye on it.
