Diaper storage in between kids? How to keep everything in good condition?

I hear lots of talk of shot elastic and pul. Lots of suggestions to sell and re buy. Living overseas means I have imported everything. So my costs are higher I am no able to just sell and re buy. Most diapers are ot even sold here and those that are cost 3x more. So I want to store for future kids.

Is there any thing I should know about proper storage of outgrown cloth diapers?

I didn't know that theyshould be stored any special way. I had them in a plastic bin in the rafters of my HOT garage and they sat for over 2 years. They are in perfect condition. I will be more careful next time, but I don't think you will have trouble.

I think basics stuff like no extreme temperatures/humidity/dryness would be a good idea.
Another thing to consider--some stuff gets worn out and you don't realize while your lo is wearing it. I had a few flip covers from DS left over, and I pulled them out for DD a few weeks ago, and wow were those legs stretched out. It wasn't from storage, they'd only been in a drawer for less than 6 months. But, he had worn them for quite a while, and they didn't seem stretched out when I stopped using them on him, b/c they fit his bigger legs just fine.

If you have hard water, you want to soften it for the last wash so they are not crunchy in storage. Crunchy elastic doesn't stay well.
I just washed mine twice, and put them in a rubbermaid bin. I added a cloth with lavender oil to keep bugs away. My newborn stash is 15 months old and still good in storage. I'll be using them again in five months and they will be almost new!

Our apartment is humid in general :/ They will be in my hallway.

Would a fully sealed bin be best? Should I seal them up in baggies inside?

I have always heard that you should not store them in an air-tight container. I store mine in a pillowcase in the closet. When I took them out after two years, they were all still in perfect shape. You definitely don't want somewhere like a garage or attic, where there will be wide temperature wings.

I kept mine in the attic, twice! Everything works great including the PUL and elastic. I'm surprised everyone is saying this, honestly! I just put it all in a ruber maid bin and that was it. Cleaned first of course. LOL.

We set ours aside for about 2 years in between kids. They had all been washed of course, and I put them in our large PUL wetbag (also freshly cleaned before storing) in a closet. Pulled them out a few weeks ago and they still work beautifully. I didn't know you had to store them a certain way, but I guess I did it right. I think it is probably true about extreme temperatures and air circulation.

i bought my FB in 2006 and they were used, stored in the attic for about a yr, used again in 2008, stored again for about a year in the attic and then I just pulled them out again and they are perfectly fine.
