I would totally get the 4-door. It would be much easier to get them in and out.

There was a thread on here not too long ago and the new Britaxes fit great RF.

And yes the parts will be expensive, they are owned by BMW and I can attest to the fact that BMW parts are very expensive. However, you generally have to buy less parts since they usually last longer than cheaper domestic vehicles. It's a trade off.

And don't forget you'll need premium fuel

I posted a while ago pictures of Evenflo Symphony and a Britax Roundabout in my convertible MINI. I love my car! I had a nasty accident a few years ago and my car would have driven away if not for the radiator being busted. If I had been in my old Civic I would have had a crushed car. They are really well built cars. I will say it would be a bit tricky to get the little one in, but I have gotten used to it with one seat. I learned to put DS in over the top of the seat, instead of going in the side.

Overall it can be done, but can take some extra fiddling. I have zero plans to get a new car but if I did I would probably go Clubman or the Countryman. DH has even toyed with trading his Element in for a bigger MINI and being a two MINI family. We love them and the gas mileage is great too

Dh just got a new car and really, really wanted the mini. We took ds seat to the dealer with us, but it was a PITA trying to get him in & out of the seat. We have a Britax 70 still RFing, and the seat would fit, but we couldn't get ds into his seat from the same side of the car his seat was on. His seat was on the passenger side, but we had to load him up from the driver's side because there was no access with the seat RFing. We didn't see anyway it'd work with 2 seats RFing. We looked at the countryman, but they are in really high demand, and our dealer won't even let you test drive unless you are buying the car.

If your dh would only have to deal with it once a rare while, then it may be fine, but there was no way we'd go with the mini for an everyday occurrence with the carseats & I'm just not sure how it'd work at all with 2 RFing seats.

Ultimately, Dh got a VW gold TDI & loves it!

Getting two car seats i the back is ot a problem at all. We have a Recaro seat in the back. The problem is rf if you have someone on the passsanger seat, that person has to sit very close to the front. I do ot find it challeging to get the child in, the front seats slides all the way to the front. My dh is drivig a Mini and loves it, he allways had one.

FYI - DH got the 2 door Mini-Cooper.

DS # 1 sits behind DH in a FF 5 point harness seat, and DS # 2 sits behind me in his bucket seat, and all is well. Usually we're in our SUV, but it is a lot easier than I thought it would be, although when DS is out of the bucket it'll be a little more difficult - but still manageable. Thank you all for your help!

For when your LO outgrows the bucket you might want to look at the new Britax convertibles and the True Fit since they take up less front to back room when rear facing (buckets generally take up much more room). I hope you guys enjoy your new car.
