So I have a question. My DD and I are both very sensitive to bleach. What do you think is the second best for me to use? I use vinegar now but it's staring to not cut it now that my little one is older. To strip I wash with hot hot water twice and then boil if the diapers still need them (happens about 1 am month).

Re: Now the diaper stinks after her nap!

I just has this issue. I fixed it by doing a cold wash, hot wash with dawn and oxyclean, followed by four cold rinses. Truthfully, two rinses after dawn doesn't seem to get it all out even if there are no bubbles. I then sunned them for 4-5 hours outside to help kill bacteria (especially good for potential yeast) and then tossed them in the dryer for a cycle on low. No stinkies! Haven't done my next wash yet so I can't confirm it was a permanent fix but it sure did the trick.

I second the bleach. We have used it for 6 yrs and no stinkies. Sometimes, if you don't use much, it takes a cpl times.

Best wishes hun!

I would do both

First, your normal wash cycle, but add bleach.

Then, a hot wash with dawn, followed by a warm rinse or two (I think warm rinses better), then as many cold rinses as it takes to get rid of bubbles

The dawn would be for build-up.

The bleach would be for bacteria.

You either have one of the above or both! Good-luck!

Regular boiling treatments are probably best if you can't do the bleach.

If you are reticent to bleach, try the Dawn first and then go to bleach if the Dawn doesn't help.

Which is less harmful to PUL-bleach or vinegar? I used to do vinegar in the prewash, heard it was bad, and now we have some serious stinkies. I think we're gonna line dry and let the sun do its thing for awhile, but this won't work in the winter here!

I've never had any issues with my pul from the bleach, or elastic. I do an additional rinse though?
