Re: Food Woes. Please help! My 13 mo won't eat hardly anything!

Very much could be. When my son is sick, all he will take is formula, which is why I'm glad we didn't stop at one. I'd wait another month or two to wean.

Hope he feels better soon.

Re: Food Woes. Please help! My 13 mo won't eat hardly anything!

DD is 14 months and the same way. Up until a month or 2 ago she would eat anything at all, now she is super picky. She won't touch what used to be favorites. She stopped nursing at 11.5 months when I got preggo (her choice, not mine) and has been on formula since. She is also pretty tiny, -20% on the growth charts. All she wants lately is bottles. So that is what she gets a majority of the time. We will sit her in her highchair and give her food. She will eat a little but mostly play with it. Then she signs 'all done' and won't touch anything! So she gets down and signs 'milk' so she gets a bottle. I feel kinda bad about it. I mean, she is mobile (crawling) now and needs the food, but at least she is getting most of what she needs through the formula.

So basically my advice to you is maybe reconsider weaning until he gets through this picky stage (hopefully it won't last long) because he is getting most of what he needs from you right now. So even if he has bad days eating, you won't have to worry about him. Or maybe if you do wean, get him on toddler formula to supplement him until he is a better eater. Since DD weaned and started formula she has gained a lb a month which is incredible growth for her!
