Crushed by test results

I started charting four months ago and noticed that I have a really short luteal phase (7 days) so I called Kaiser to see someone about that. Before you are allowed to even make an appointment with an RE there you have to take a stupid class and do all of your preliminary blood tests and semen analysis. I did my FSH and estridol test on Monday. I couldn't help but look at the results online when I got the email that they were available. My FSH is 11.3 and my estradiol is 163

The packet that the gave out at the class suggests that my FSH level means my chances are low with or without treatment. It says the estradiol level means pregnancy is unlikely.

and I can't even schedule and appointment with the Dr. Until after the test on day 23. They shouldn't let people have access to these terrible test results until they actually get to see the Dr. It is terrible. WTH Here. I was thinking I had a simple luteal phase defect and I could take some progesterone and be fine. Now I am finding out that my eggs aren't up to snuff and I don't even have anyone to talk to. I can't believe this is happening.

mama! I'm right there with ya. Don't panic. It only takes one good egg. People HAVE gotten pregnant with worse numbers than yours.....so wait (as patiently as you can), see your doctor, research, and keep your chin up! YOU ARE NOT ALONE, even if it feels that way sometimes!

I'm so sorry.

I'm sorry you don't like knowing early either. It's been a while since I had Kaiser, but that is one feature I really, REALLY miss about it. I loved getting my results, good and bad, on my own before the dr. could tell me. I felt it gave me the freedom to react honestly to the information, not with someone else watching and also the opportunity to research and go into the conversation with the dr. with some knowledge before hand. Also, for me, not knowing is much worse than knowing, even when it is bad. But, everyone is different. I can understand your position too.

Thanks for all your hugs and warm thoughts. That website is great. I guess I will have to do my best to keep my head up and not lose hope before I can seethe doctor. It is really hard though.

Re: Crushed by test results

I'm so sorry! I know what it's like to be is your shoes! How old are you? I'm 32. I took started my journey just thinking I have low progesterone and that all I would need was supplemental progesterone. But then we did more tests. I had an FSH of 13 once (then 6). My estrodial has been normal though (I think). I finally saw a RE and found out (via ultrasound) that I have diminished ovarian reserve. I did manage to conceive a few months ago (while take prometrium to help with the progesterone, but no other meds then) but had a miscarriage. My RE still thinks I can have a healthy baby. Don't give up hope yet! I've read plenty of hopeful stories.

BTW, I'm in Berkeley. I wish I had more advice for you but I'm still fairly early on my journey. I don't have Kaiser so I have been fortunate to be able to choose my docs, etc. That said, you may find that the treatments you need are not covered under insurance - in which case you will probably end up choosing to go outside of Kaiser for care. I'm going to a RE at UCSF. My testing was covered by insurance but now that we are starting IUI, none of it will be covered for me. Not sure what Kaiser covers or not.

Feel free to PM me.

Cindy

I had different issues than yours, but I know there are a lot of natural boosts out there that can help all sorts of problems. Maca's supposed to be good for all sorts of issues... maybe check that out? I had really good luck with green tea, too - though again, different issues.

Infertility problems suck! I've been there myself! I highly recommend acupuncture. It can help regulate your body again. It certainly helped me. I have a healthy happy baby boy now. Just make sure you see a acupuncture fertility specialist. And think positive!!!!
