Phenylephrine= lowered milk supply?

So Ive got a cold/flu/sore throat or just crap lol.
My dp said I should take his cold/flu med but I was like lemme look up the ingredients jic.
One of them is the phenylephrine, drugs.com says it could lower bm suppy.
Anyone have any firsthand experience?
My baby is 6.5 mos old so not a nb, but I dont want to risk it either if it could affect it.

I probably wont take it just to be on the safe side, but figured Id ask anyway.

It sucks being sick!

The way it was explained to me us that those are decongestants which dry up sinuses and you what makes the milk in your breasts are also sinuses, so it can decrease production. I have heard of women taking things like sudafed when they have weaned to help dry them up. I have personally stayed away from cold meds for that reason, but I have a hard time with my supply, ao I tend to be pretty cautious! HTH. Feel better!

The previous theory that the breast has sinuses, has been disproved. Yes, whe ur on it it can lower supply. Take it on ur worst of all worst days. And use part of ur milk stash if u notice baby isn't satisfied. Some women experience it, others don't. It's a gamble. I do.

Alot of people don't. Even ibclc that trained years ago, might not! The lactation process is still so misunderstood! The info we used to have was only on cadaver breastfeeding women. It's hard to scan the breast in let down, Kwim? Anyways, the inside of the breast looks like broccoli. No sinuses after all!

I was taught all of this in my LC course at UCSD! I'm not sure online... I can look! I'm on my phone but if u simply google anatomy of the lactating breasts, many options show up. Research on the breast was limited in the past, but if u think abouta head of broccoli, that's what the ducts 'look' like!
