does anyone trim their prefolds?
I'm thinking about trimming off 3 or 4" off my premium prefolds......has anyone done this....how did you like them, were there any absorbabcy issues after? I am folding them down in the front but they are just too bulky looking that way and they dont fit into my covers when I trifold them and lay them in.....
I'm just scared of ruining my prefolds... Jackie |

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
I have some I bought trimmed and I love them! Much trimmer. We're headed out the door, but I could measure them later. I've used them for over a year tho and they still work fine. No problems at all except I wish they were all trimmed. I've just never taken the time. I fold in the back, less bulky.
For laying in a cover have you tried quad folding the short way? That works ok on Zane, tho I prefer pins.

've taken 3" off some cpfs (after someone said my ds looked like he had a butt in the front!
) I don't have a serger, so I just zigzag stitched them and that's been working great!

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
Yes, I have! About 3-4" off from Premiums. Right now I only use them as 'emergency' inserts in my pockets as they're technically too small in length for large dipes..

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
Yep. I trimmed about 3-4 inches off one end, then sewed it back down the middle on both ends (so it will still dry on one cycle, since it is a flap.) That probably doesn't make sense... Here is a link. I'm too tired to try & explain myself...lol

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
Oh...and we LOVE them.
![]() We tried it out with a gerber first, but the Premium work the best, or an infant trifolded works great too, no trimming required...

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
We love them too. When I use my Bummis SWW covers, I have no absorbancy issues but if I have a couple of covers that I needed the extra absorbancy so here is a picture of how I fold those. I don't lose any absorbancy this way and it is still much trimmer than non trimmed prefolds. Oh, I use premium prefolds for this and sometimes wish my regulars were trimmed too!
Unfolded: ![]() Trifolded for most covers: ![]() Snake fold the doubler back when I need extra absorbancy:

Re: does anyone trim their prefolds?
I just got a sewing machine yesterday (bother xl-3510) and I'm cuttin down ALL my prefolds, baby!
Seriously, they were waaaay too long. I'm going to just sew the excess in, because my daughter always needs it. Here'a a question...should I tye die them first, or do you think it matters?
