Insomnia remedy question

If this has been asked before, I apologize. I claim sleep deprivation.

Started that lovely pregnancy-induced insomnia. Headed to the store to find my old stand-by - Sleepytime Tea by Celestial Seasonings (chamomile and some other herbs for taste). I discovered that Celestial Seasonings has added a new version of this tea since I bought it last. They now have a version that includes 25mg of valerian per tea bag. I've used melatonin for sleep issues in the past, and my son currently takes melatonin, but I've never used it during pregnancy and never used valerian at all. Would this amount (I'd only drink a cup a day, and likely not every night. Today we did a three mile hiking adventure with my 4 year old and I'm sure I'll sleep fine tonight, but I don't have the energy to do that every day.) be safe to use during pregnancy?

I bought the regular version for now and I have an appointment at a new OB office next Thursday with a midwife (first appointment protocol. I'll be seeing midwives and OBs throughout the remainder of my pregnancy), so I can ask her at my appointment and use the regular version until then, but I thought I'd ask here because I seem to remember a discussion about valerian here a while back. I'm 21 weeks along, if that helps any.

Re: Insomnia remedy question

My MW says valerian is safe, and I have not asked her specifically, but I am pretty sure melatonin is safe, too. That said, she says most ppl get better results from skullcap. Also, unisome (unisom?) is safe, as far as I know.

Eta: Actually, looking around online, there is some debate about melatonin.

Re: Insomnia remedy question

I've seen the debate about melatonin...and although unisom is considered safe, I'm not sure how it would react with me. Some types of unisom have the same active ingredient as Benadryl, and that knocks me out for about four hours solid, then I feel very groggy afterwards. I was hoping to go a more "natural" route.

Thanks for the help!
