PF Recommendations

My DS is almost 4 months old and is still wearing green edged infant pfs. They are getting kind of hard to get around him, but we still fold down about 2-3 inches on the top to get the right rise on him. He's pretty tall and skinny, but we use the angel fold. I've been looking at the rainbow short pfs from GMD. Has anyone successfully used only them or does everyone end up having to buy the regular premium pfs also? I'm thinking that we might be able to get by without buying the regulars since we still fold down the infants. Any advice? We are definitely needing the extra absorbancy of the premiums too.

Thanks!
Mandi

Re: PF Recommendations

I have premiums b/c the infants were getting to short. But the premiums are too wide. But the rainbows shorts are just as wide as the premiums. I am wondering if there are any prefolds narrower than the premiums and shorter. BUT NOT hemp- too heavy for me.

Re: PF Recommendations

My 3 mo. old is also long & lean (26 in. tall) The infant green-edge that I have are barely fitting...only works if I do the bikini fold w/ snappi.

The GMD rainbow shorts are wonderful. We have to fold a bit... I actually fold down in the back b/c we don't nec. need the extra absorbency, so folding in the back is trimmer IM

I also bought some new Thirstie infant pfds, and for some reason those are like 1in wider, so I'm still able to use those.

The regular have a *ton* to fold down, so I'd highly recommend either the GMD shorts or having them trimmed to your specifications. Several WAHM busineese will do that for you

HTH (nak!!)

I would just go with premiums. The regulars are the same size just has two layers less. If worse comes to worse you could tri fold it long wise and just place it in a wrap if it is too long for the time being, but your LO will grow!

Re: PF Recommendations

I went from infant to premium and yeah, it's completley ridiculous and bulky for a while but regulars are a waste in my opinion. They are the same size, just two layers less and it's not that much of a difference in the bulk. I would go to premiums after infant if I were you.

oh yeah and we've always had to fold down the rise in the back on my daughter. She's now in toddler prefolds and we still have to fold the rise down. Even when she outgrew the premiums, she still needed the rise folded down.

Re: PF Recommendations

Just in case you get confused, "regular" means 4x6x4 absorbency. "premium" is 4x8x4 absorbency...not a lot different in width or length (though my thirsties regulars are a bit shorter then the premiums)

GMD shorts are premiums trimmed to a shorter length.
