Slow Cooker Chicken?

Sorry if this has already been asked..
Has anyone cooked a whole chicken in the crock pot with good results? I've seen several recipes/techniques but don't know anyone personally who has tried any of them. Share your tips and recipes please? Thanks!

I have done it. It browns and everything. I just put a chicken in, put in about 2 cups of water (enough to make the crock pot work) and then set it and forget it. It normally takes about 8-12 hours.

Good luck!

Browns too? That's great! Thanks Jennifer! Looks like you can even use the liquid leftover/skin/bones to make a really nice broth overnight too. That's a meal that just keeps on giving! LOL!

I do. I don't add water, just a squeeze of lemon juice, brush it with olive oil and an onion in the crock pot. The chicken produces a lot of liquid- enough for a broth without adding a lot of water. Its not crusty like a roasted chicken, but its good. And it falls off the bone making it easier to shred for meal 2 (usually chicken and dumplings for us).

I do! I just recently started doing this. I don't add water. I brush the chicken with some lemon and put salt and pepper and another spice..I can't remember. And then turn it on high and it's done in 7 or so hours. I should add you might want to turn it down to low after like 2 or hours or so..I just forget to. LOL

Re: Slow Cooker Chicken?

I just stick the chicken in and walk away, cook for 8-9 hours on low.
