Re: Early Intervention.. when to call?

They should be acting like their adjusted age (3.5 months) and learning the skills that other 3.5 month olds are doing. Can't remember exactly, but think that's like good head control, starting to push up and elbows/maybe arms on tummy, starting to hold toys, smiling, cooing, etc.

No harm in calling EI. While they may or may not qualify, here the EI process can take over a month or two to even get in for an evaluation and if there is an delay, better to identify it sooner rather than later.

I would say if in doubt - then call.. it doens't hurt (and its probably free) to have then evaluated anyways... and I can tell you from 3 kids in EI and i'm getting my EI certification that the peds. will wait until very delayed before recommending...

Agreed, when in doubt, call ei. If you are not sure of numbers, you can google it for your state/county and see what you get, call your ped and ask them for the number, or see if there are any parent groups/organizations that have info. FWIW, I was told ei will use there adjusted age until they are 2.

Re: Early Intervention.. when to call?

We referred DFS at 3 months, and should have called sooner, but I didn't know how the program worked at that point. He was a 34 weeker. He was accepted, and is still in the program now at almost 2.5. Good luck mama.
