Re: Daycare Rates

Maybe the "till 7pm" is doing it. Most places here close at 5 or 6, max, so you'd be paying more for after-hours care. Our daycare is from 7-6pm and is $125/week, but we used to go to one that was 7:15-5:00 that was $200/ they'd be $25-$40/day I guess. I'd shop around and give her rates you find.

Re: Daycare Rates

Wowza! I'm not terribly familiar with costs but I know my BFF pays $30/day 8-5:30 and her daycare provider is flexible. The friday before she could tell her she only needs 4 days the next week and she's fine with that

Re: Daycare Rates

It may also be because your DD is part time. For our oldest, we were paying $250 per week for 5 days ($50 a day). We knocked her down to PT, 2 days per week when I was on mat leave with my little one, and we had to pay $65 per day instead of the normal $50. At our daycare, the rate changes slightly when the child is only there part-time because they're basically losing out on income because they can't necessarily fill the slot on the off-days unless there's another parent who needs part-time care on those open days.

Talking Re: Daycare Rates

Is this an in-home daycare? If so, I think that is very expensive. Are meals and snacks included or do you provide those? We pay $55/day (7-10 hours) at a daycare facility with a school-like setting for my 2 and 4 year old and snacks and meals are included. This is the going rate in my community, but I know that in-home child care is much less expensive. We like the school atmosphere especially because they are only there twice a week as well. All in all, we pay about $800/mo for daycare. OUTRAGEOUS!!
