Brown the beef ahead - duh

I cannot believe I didn't think of this earlier. Typically, we buy our meats on clearance so it needs to be frozen or cooked within a day. I start buying the larger packages of groud beef, frying them up and freezing them separately to equate to about a pound uncooked.

Not only does it save freezer space, what a breeze now to just take out the package and throw into whatever you are cooking. Maybe you all do this, but how could I not think of this sooner!

Hee hee!!! My MIL does that! But for some reason I just can't get behind it. I don't really like the way it tastes when it's thawed but I have always used it for tacos, maybe it would be ok in pasta sauce and such...hmmmm....

I would agree with pp and only use for ground beef. So far, I've done tater tot casserole and spaghetti and both turned out great! I'm loving it!

A while back at the grocery store I saw a bag of frozen ground beef crumbles that were precooked-can't remember the brand now. But it was such a duh! idea that I started buying the huge packs and cooking and freezing them. So easy for tacos, sloppy joe, spag sauce, hamburger helper, etc.
