Re: How long did you breastfeed?

Asher is 9 months old and exclusively nursing.

Aydin is 2 years, 4 months old and nurses 3-4 times a week. When he was a year old I wanted him weaned by 18 months or so but I love nursing him now.

We're going strong at 6 months tomorrow... we'll nurse until weaning feels "right".

Re: How long did you breastfeed?

#1 2 weeks
#2 16 months (self weaned)
#3 just turned 2 and is still nursing

We don't have any plans to stop soon but I do wish I could cut it down to morning, nap and bedtime. A nursing 2 year old can be pretty demanding and I didn't realize that until I was nursing a 2 year old! I don't really have a set age that I think is too old because I think it varies with each child/mother.

Re: How long did you breastfeed?

DD will be 2 in August and is still going strong, too old will be after she decides to wean herself, any future babies will have their own "too old" ages, depending on when they decide to wean

ETA: DS was a different story, after a 5 week NICU stay we EBF for several months, upon my return to work had to start supplementing (could not pump @ work) and my milk supply decreased until I got preg w/DD @ 9 months PP for DS when supply completely cratered. Milk came back in a few months early for DD and I retaught DS to latch and nursed him on occasion until about 3 or 4 months ago.

Re: How long did you breastfeed?

ds: 3.5 months EBF, then stopped at 4 months for medical reasons
dd: 3 months (but hoping that maybe I can nurse occasionally )

What is EPing? Is it some form of extended BFing? I can't figure the "p" out.

Re: How long did you breastfeed?

Since I was young my goal was to nurse each baby 2yrs!

DS is 3yrs old & has only had BM since day 1 and still nurses 3-5 times during the day!

DD is 19 months old and has also only had BM and is still nursing during the night & day!

So I have been nursing for over 3yrs straight I think my DS will wean soon though DD there is no end in sight! lol

We CLW!

EP- exclusively pumping, and yes it is hard work!

My first was a micro-preemie w/ many health issues. I pumped around the clock for him until my milk ran dry, i think he was about 3 months old at the time but I had lots of milk frozen so he got b/m until about 4 months. It was a very frustrating time and I tried so many things to boost supply and they didn't work.

My second, still nursing at 10 1/2 months. I started supplementing w/ formula at 8 1/2 months when he went through a biting spell. Now he will goes days w/o wanting to nurse (so I pump) and then some days he is fine. It is a bit annoying but I'm doing my best to at a minimum make it to a year and then we will see.

Re: How long did you breastfeed?

DS - 23 months (because I was PG and not making enough milk)
DD #1 - 7 months (also because I was PG and was not making enough milk)
DD #2 - only 2 weeks old and plan to nurse until she weans herself!

I just don't make enough milk when I'm PG to keep nursing. I tried, oh Lord did I try! I cried like a baby when my babies stopped nursing. my 1st DD had major weight gain issues and medical problems too and was in/out of Stanford for gastro probs since birth, so when I found it was MY fault for not making enough milk, we went to formula and she did GREAT! I felt SO bad that I didn't know why she wouldn't grow... had no idea I wasn't making enough milk until we did extensive testing over periods of time. This is our last baby, so I won't get PG while nursing her and I plan on nursing her as long as she likes or up to age 2.5-3 (my personal limit)
