Re: Homemade bisquick
Homemade Bisquick Mix Recipe (you can cut in half if you need to but we have a large family
)10 cups flour 1/2 cup baking powder 1/4 cup sugar 2 tsp. salt 2 cups shortening 1. Mix dry ingredients. 2. Cut in shortening until mixture is about the consistency of cornmeal. 3. Store in large ziploc bags or air tight containers in freezer. Its really good and we use it ALL the time and you really cant tell the difference and its super quick to make

Awesome!!!! If I just wanted to do the dry mix (I don't have much room in my freezer), how much shortening would I use per cup of dry mix? |

3.2 (or a good 3) Tablespoons of shortening per cup of flour.

Re: Homemade bisquick
Thank You!!! That's EXACTLY what I was looking. Quick and easy, can make a big batch, and works just like bisquick. I am buying a 50lb bag of flour the next time I am at Costco, and wanted to use some to make the mix.

Re: Homemade bisquick
I use that same recipe but I have modified it with whole wheat flour, oatmeal ect for different things. I keep mine in an ice cream pail in the pantry.
