Re: Best carrier for a bad back
No slings!
I have a Maya Tie, it's a MT with wrap style straps. It's my very favorite, wore it all over Disney World with a toddler. Here's a link: http://www.mayawrap.com/viewItem.asp...Desc=&Search=N

Re: Best carrier for a bad back
I have a compressed disk in my lower middle back. I actually find back carries more comfortable that front carries. I think a back carry helps me keep good posture and a front carry causes me to stoop forward a bit too much and that can cause my back to act up.
I own a few MTs and a Beco and both are good, but I prefer my Beco over all other carriers. I can wear ds for hours and not feel a thing. His weight is so well distributed and it mostly falls on my hips instead of right on my back like in a front carry. Just my

Re: Best carrier for a bad back
After 4 children and just about every sling/carrier later...I have found and absolutely LOVE the Ergo!!! Your babies weight is distributed more onto your hips instead of pulling on shoulders/back. It works from newborn-45lbs!! I did yard work for 3 hrs with my 2.5 yr old in the Ergo and was not at all uncomfortable.
Great carrier...highly recommended! Kelley |

Re: Best carrier for a bad back
Okay first off step away from ANY one shouldered carrier. Your best bet is a MT or a wrap. I think the first thing you should do is find a local NINO group. nineinnineout.org
