Hot Tubs

I desperately want to sit in a hot tub. My hips are killing me, and my SOs parents just got a hot tub. Plus we go swimming often and I would like to go sit in one then as well. I'm 24 weeks pregnant. I'm going to ask my midwife about it, but I completely forgot last time. Any advice or anything?

We had a hot tub at our last house. I went in with the temp at 101 for about 15 minutes at a time. It really helped. The major rule is if you feel too warm get out...(common sense right? ) or dizzy etc. i used ours until 39 weeks.

Re: Hot Tubs

Go ahead, get in, and get some relief mama!

I have never avoided hot tubs while pregnant. I just get out if I start really feeling hot, like starting to sweat, kwim? Gives about 15mins at a time, depending on the heat of the tub

Re: Hot Tubs

I go in every night. The temp sits between 98-102 and it's outdoors so I don't stress it too much. I'm not going to lie, I'm usually out there for nearly an hour. I think if you are in a low risk situation and keep the temp low you should be ok.

Re: Hot Tubs

Like someone else said- if you start feeling uncomfortable, get out! Otherwise, go right ahead I LOVE hot water when I'm pregnant or not. My husband used to joke with my first "don't kill the little person" when I took showers because I take them so hot, lol.

My OB highly recommended the pool or hot tub to ease discomfort this pregnancy. She said the hot tub was fine but just to limit the duration of time & try to keep it to 10-15 minutes. Tbh I usually start feeling really warm even before 10 minutes & so often I will get out, get in the pool for a while to cool off, then go back in for a little longer.

I asked my midwife about it during my last pregnancy, and she said it was no big deal... "as long as you're not cooking your organs, the baby is fine!"
