Music CDs and jewel cases

If I've downloaded them onto my computer/ipod, should I keep them? What can I do with my music CDs and their jewel cases/lyric booklets? Part of me wants to hold onto them (like my "Thriller" Michael Jackson CD, Madonna, etc), but at the same time, I haven't touched the actual CD in years!!

You're not supposed to sell them, but you can give them away... might totally make someone's day that way! Ours are in a book so no cases but we're going to give them away anyway

Just make sure you have them backed up, it would totally suck to have things crash and lose it all!

I put our CDs and their booklets in matching cd boxes--ikea has similar ones-- organized alphabetically by genre (because I'm a nerd), and we threw the cases away. Everything is in iTunes though, so we haven't opened the cd boxes in a couple of years. DH told me about a new apple service that will make CDs even more obselete: for a yearly subscription fee, we can have "cloud" access to every song in iTunes, whether it has been purchased through apple or not.

You're not allowed to sell used CDs anymore? Hunh. Didn't know that.

If there are a few that you simply CAN"T part with, then keep those, and chuck the rest. (By whatever means is legal or you feel like.) BUT, I feel more strongly about getting rid of CDs (and DVDs) if they're never used/watched because we live overseas, and are in our 3rd country in just over 4 years of marriage. Cds and DVDs get REALLY heavy really fast, and to take up suitcases or shipping weight with something we NEVER use/watch/listen to, is just stupid, to me.

We backed up our music CD's and keep those with other backed-up files. We do have a few originals that we didn't want to part with.
We keep our DVD's in a case like this one.
