6 week old nursing less frequently

My first post on this board so hello! and nice to meet you all!

My 6 week old DS has been a champion nurser since birth, aside from some oversupply and overactive letdown issues we have been having a fantastic nursing experience. nurse on demand and try to pay very close attention to hunger cues so as to not let him get too hungry or get to the point of crying. He usually nurses for about 10-15 minutes every 2-3 hours during the day. We just got over a growth spurt as well that lasted about 4 days.

Today, out of nowhere his nursing sessions have become quite short and he seems to be nursing less frequently.

He's still wetting and dirtying diapers adequate amounts.

Is it safe to assume that he is nursing less and for a shorter amount of time because he is finished his growth spurt or that maybe he has become a more efficient nurser??

I'm noticing it a little bit in my breasts as well. I'm not engorged by any means, and after his feeds my breasts are soft but i'm noticing that he's not eating as often.

Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks mama's!

Mine did the same thing. If diapers are fine, baby is happy and gaining good weight, then it's fine.

As long as you're getting lots of wet diapers, I wouldn't worry. Some days my baby nurses more than others, I just follow her cues. It sounds like you're doing great, just trust your instincts

Totally normal. I wouldn't worry at all. It's a combination of the things you mentioned. You're doing great mama!!
