The evolution of our obsessions!
I am sure that so many of you can relate. Pre-baby I was obsessed with shoes and handbags...then once the baby arrived the baby gear obsession set in...from car seats to strollers to carriers...then it was a cloth diaper obsession...then I met wool. I'm fully entrenched in a wool obsession and have wondered what would be next...and now I know. WALDORF DOLLS! I've just spent the last 3 days obsessing over dolls. It's not in our Christmas budget so I'm thinking dd's 3rd birthday will be good timing. What obsession comes after waldorf dolls? I suppose by then I'll be obsessing over which school to enroll her in or whether to homeschool.
![]() Surely I'm not the only one!

School hit me when number 1 was 4.5. Spent four solid months obsessing about that. Now, Im back to clothes and bags. Clothes for the kids, bags for me.

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
See for me, I did the cloth addiction which I followed up by a woolie addiction. Luckily(or unluckily for my PP account) I found a yarn and sweater knitting addiction. I also am quite addicted to knitting and creating hats for my LO's. And I just ordered my first Waldorf doll!!!!!!!! She is soooo stinking cute and perfect!!!!! It is funny, because I was just joking with some co-workers about the evolution of souveneirs! They are young and dating and went to the Dominican Republic and brought back the regular young people souveneirs, shot glasses, dirty cards, bottle openers. Now I bring back shirts for my kids, decorations for the house, etc. Quite the evolution there too.

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
Hmmm...good question. I don't really know. Nothing really stands out to me. Dogs maybe?

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
I can totally relate. I have constant obsessions - some last longer than others. Pre baby it was clothes and soccer. Then it was milestones and development for DD1 (obsessed with "is this normal/advanced/delayed"). Then it was cloth diapers for DS, then wool with him, and now wool again with DD2. I have flirted with Waldorf dolls, but not sure I will go there. I am teaching myself to knit and have visions of being a grandma and knitting longies for my grandbabies (which their moms will likely think are crazy grandma stuff by then). I'm a little worried about what will happen to me when DD PLs though..... Maybe back to shoes and clothes for myself?

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
I don't think I'll ever kick my yarn/woolies addiction. I've transitioned from longies into sweaters and scarves, there's no going back from this. Lol!

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
Pre baby it was probably clothes for me and purses for sure.
Then after I had Andrew, before I knew about cloth it was Gymboree/Janie and Jack/Gap/Mini Boden---OUTFITS and putting them together and dreaming up the next season's wardrobe. Oh how I wish I was 1/2 like that now. Then it was sort of diapers...I started cloth diapering b/c Andrew was allergic to whatever is in sposies. So I didnt start off addicted to it, it was more of just something I had to do. Then it grew....GAD's. At the time, snagging a custom slot for a GAD was really difficult. We ended up with a ton. Then I had Landon, and when he was born I got into yarn/wool/knitting and that has been a big problem LOL Last year around this time I bought a spinning wheel...now i"m obsessed with spinning yarn and knitting it. |

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
Before DD, I was obsessed with jewelry like precious stones. When we evacuated from Japan, my friend we went to stay with reminded me not to forget my jewelry box. In the 10 years I was working, I sent my year-end bonus on jewelry so she knew I had quite a collection.
When I had DD, it was cds then yarn for my knitting. Definitely cost less than jewelry but can be expensive because we only have DH's income to support us. Since I stayed home with DD, I have a lot of time to knit but no income to spend for yarn so I started knitting for others, sort of self-supporting hobby. I will probably obsesseing with school next |

Re: The evolution of our obsessions!
About 2 years ago, I was obsessed with Thomas Pink custom tailored shirts and suits (for work)... $180 plus tailor fee. I would go to the store on 5th ave once a week after work.
About a year ago, I was obsessed with couture dog accessories and clothes. Now, cloth diapers, baby toys, kitchen things, and houses. Now, I cant believe that i spent so much money on effing shirts..... AND i'm a SAHM now, so I have no need for them!
