what's with wool?

DIAPER DUMDUM HERE. Please help me understand wool. Longies...shorties...? Do they serve as the diaper cover? Can boys wear em? Aren't they hot and scratchy? Do ya just put em with a shirt and call it an outfit...or do ya put pants over em? Someone PLEASE explain!! I don't wanna be a dumdum!

Re: what's with wool?

Longies...shorties...? Or soakers
Do they serve as the diaper cover? Yep
Can boys wear em? Yep
Aren't they hot and scratchy? They breath better than PUL, and scratchy is going to depend on the yarn, some is softer than others. None of ours are scratchy.

Do ya just put em with a shirt and call it an outfit. Yes, if it's shorties or longies
..or do ya put pants over em? With a soaker, you can do clothes on top

Someone PLEASE explain!! I just did.

Re: what's with wool?

Yes, wool is your diaper cover. People typically use them as the cover/clothing, like in the case of longies, they would be worn as a diaper cover that is also pants. Yes, boys can wear them. Wool does NOT have to be scratchy. Some wool is very soft and snuggly. Merino is especially soft.

Longies are pants, shorties are shorts.
They do serve as a diaper cover, when wool is well lanolized, it serves as a nice, natural material. Keeps babies bums aired out!
If you use the right wool, it's not scratchy, but some is, it depends on how much it's been processed.
Check out my avi, I put a shirt on her and we go out like that (how can you cover something that cute up )

Re: what's with wool?

yes, wool is the cover, it is very soft and breathable so in the heat it keeps LO cool because of increased airflow and in the winter keeps em warm

the wool used for longies and shorties is super soft and yummy against your skin and work well for all climates

my DD does not wear "normal" clothes at all, all her "outfits" consist of a top with wool bottoms, be it a skirt, soaker, shorties, capris or longies

Here is DD wearing some wool knit capris

She's so cute! My dd's clothes are mostly wool too. But now that she's in daycare, I keep picking her up and she is pants-less. Every day! I think they think she is hot, no matter how much I tell them she's fine!

Re: what's with wool?

Ok I think I'm getting it! The outfits are too cute! I just looked on the fsot to see about wool and there was a boy train outfit w/a shirt and all!! (too small for my guy tho...but if it had been a little bigger....) My sis has a 3 mo old (she uses cd's) and I have a 9 mo old and am just getting started cd'ing. The thing is we practically raised our little bro and he was cd'ed....but it was the 80's and all we had was good ole dipes, pins, and pull on plastic pants!! (sis uses this method on her baby!) No wonder I didn't use cd's on my first 2!! If only I had known how far cd'ing had come! I feel like I've been stuck in cd'ing dark ages. Thanks so much for the info and the adorable pix!

Talking Re: what's with wool?

Here's a pic of my guy wearing a Thumbelina soaker that I got off here. It sorta fits him like shorties, so he usually wears it with just a shirt. I love wool!
