I just got my first Mei Tai.

Yay! Anywho, WTF do I do now? LOL

Can I carry her facing out? she's 9 months old (today, in fact ) and a squirmy thing. I'm not certain she would like her legs folded in front of her. Also, for the back thing, how do I get her there by myself? Should I enlist the help of DF?

Help me mommas! Much appreciated!

Re: I just got my first Mei Tai.

At 9 mos, I would think your DD would be too old to have her legs tucked in. I love back carrying, but when I first got my mei tai, I needed help putting putting my DD on my back. I can do it now, but my youngest is 20 mos and I use the santa toss (at least that's what I think it's called). I still am not good putting her on my hip and scooting her to my back.

Re: I just got my first Mei Tai.

I found the hip scoot to work the best for us - honestly, the first few times, I did it in front of the TV. Since she hardly ever got to watch TV, she was transfixed and would stay pretty still while I scooted her around, then I could stay bent over and get her situated.

I found too that after I pulled both straps up and 'bounced' her down in the MT, I could bend back over again, put one strap between my knees to secure it while I got the other strap situated around her bum. Worked very well!

It takes practice, but you'll get it, and you'll probably use it alot! We used it so much that she really only went on the front when she needed to sleep.
