Re: BLW mamas- Need some help here
Have you tried steaming vs. boiling? Boiling tends to retain a bit more water, I believe. I also lightly bake hard fruits (i.e. pears, apples) to soften it up without any added water. I usually cook in large batches for my 9 mo old, freeze, and then thaw/warm up for meals, and if it is something I've boiled like broccoli, she will do that-- just poke at it, even though she'd normally eat it. Have you tried banana, avocado, sweet potato? They're soft foods without the slimy feel. Those are always winners in our house. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. We've been making progress. He will pick up fruits some of the time, other times he will eat it if we feed it to him. He really likes bread & breaded veggies that I made for him with some bread crumbs.

You can roast sweet potatoes in appropriate sized chuncks. Makes great finger food and can be eaten warm or cold.
If food was too slippery, I would dust it with Wheat germ or food processed dry oats. Sent from my Droid....probably while nursing ....interpret accordingly |
